Things We Said Today #462 – Jim Marshall’s Candlestick Park Photos FIXED

 

In episode #462 of Things We Said Today, Ken Michaels, Allan Kozinn, Darren DeVivo and Kit O’Toole explore “The Beatles Live at Candlestick Park,” a new book devoted to Jim Marshall’s extraordinary photographs of the Beatles final concert, in San Francisco on August 29, 1966 (plus some of Marshall’s photos from their appearance at the Cow Palace in 1965). On hand for the discussion are Amelia Davis, the curator of Marshall’s archives, and the music critic and author Joel Selvin, a longtime friend of Marshall’s, whose essay in the book puts the photographs in their historical context. The interview begins after Ken’s news segment, at 28’36”.
